  24. I have just had the misfortune of reading that  the  rainbow  box
  25. that I constructed is a fraud and never existed.  Being  slightly
  26. confused,  I  looked over at it and when I saw that it was  still
  27. there,  I  decided  that someone was wrong  on  their  assumption
  28. wasn't me. Here is a brief background on the Rainbow box:

  30. "Rainbow  Box:  SUPPOSEDLY non-existent.  Kills trace by  putting
  31. 120v into the phone lines, SUPPOSEDLY!"

  36. The  above  sums up what a Rainbow box does,  but  it   is   VERY
  37. understated. Like my creation of the Bottle-Nosed Grey box, it is
  38. a VERY powerful box capable of doing a great amount of damage  to
  39. both the phone lines,  your phone and the person at the other end
  40. of the line's phone a/o modem.  Right now you have everything you
  41. need to build one, so let's see how. You'll need:

  49. 1 each Telephone (Rotary with access to the mouth part)
  50. 1 each Extension Cord (120v or 220v, your choice)
  51. 1 each wall outlet
  52. 1 each wire splicers
  53. 5 points of I.Q. or above to build this thing.
  54. 2 points of I.Q. or less to actually use it.

  62. Okay,  now:  Unscrew  the  mouth part of the phone and  take  the
  63. speaker  off.  You'll see two (2) wires.  A Red wire and a  Black
  64. wire  (please hold all 'No #$%^ Sherlock!' type comments for now,
  65. thank you.). Now splice the extension cord, you'll see a red wire
  66. and a black wire.  Splice the black wire in the cord to the black
  67. wire in the phone,  do the same with the red.  Congrats! You just
  68. made  a  non-existent Rainbow Box!  Don't  you  feel  proud?  You
  69. shouldn't, any moron could have figured this out!

  78. tell you (here's a hint: Plug the cord into the wall.)

  83. How it works

  86. The phone lines can resist a charge of 6v  and   a  little  more,
  87. when  you plug in that cord,  you're sending 120v or 220v through
  88. the lines.  It blows out everything,  but it is   non  selective.
  89. Odds  are  you will  take out every  phone   in  the neighborhood
  90. and get caught. It will melt the phone if you  let  it  go   long
  91. enough.  WARNING:  THIS DEVICE CAN VERY EASILY  START  A FIRE, BE
  92. CAREFUL WHEN PLAYING AROUND WITH THIS!

  97. How this and Bottle Nosed Grey Box differ?

  100. 1)  Bottle-Nosed Grey box is selective and will do damage to only
  101. your phone,  the line between you and your enemy and your enemy's
  102. MODEM, whereas the Rainbow Box just takes everything out.

  104. 2)  The amperage  on the Bottle-Nosed Grey box can be  controlled
  105. by adding or removing capacitors,  but the Rainbow Box has only 2
  106. settings: Strong Pulse and STRONG pulse.
